After our interviews with Ryan revealed that he had too many personal connections with the Agency to reject him outright (an art director was the ring bearer in his parents’ wedding, and a copywriter owned one of his band’s CDs), we had no option but to hire him in May 2006.

Before joining RHB as a copywriter, Ryan earned an M.A. in English (Creative Writing) from Ball State University, where he taught fiction writing and composition, and helped facilitate the Lilly II Visiting Writers Series. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Purdue University. His recent teaching experience in higher education makes him a valuable addition to the RHB team.

When he is not busy writing copy for RHB, Ryan splits his creative energy between songwriting and finishing his first short story collection. His other notable accomplishments include opening up for Rusted Root in concert and guarding former Indiana Pacer Rik Smits in a recreational basketball league—though he reports that he was dominated in both instances: musically by Michael Glabicki, and physically by the Dunking Dutchman.
