Joseph Montgomery appointed as the Dan Saracino Chair of Enrollment Management

RHB is delighted to announce the appointment of Joseph Montgomery as our next Dan Saracino Chair of Enrollment Management.

Joining RHB in 2023, Joe brings nearly two decades of enrollment experience to his role. He is currently a member of the advisory boards for both the Partnership for Education Advancement and Cialfo, a consultant to the United Negro College Fund and a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s board of directors. Joe started in the profession at his alma mater, Voorhees College, before assuming leadership roles in the years that followed at the University of Miami, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Tuskegee University. Joe also worked for six years in various roles with The College Board, providing counsel to clients throughout the southeastern United States.

Highly regarded in higher education as a mentor and important voice, Joe will provide expert counsel to the RHB team as it builds and formalizes a consulting practice that expands beyond recruitment to include retention and student success. He will also play a key role in helping RHB strengthen the enrollment industry’s talent pipeline through an RHB-sponsored internship program designed to train the next generation of BIPOC enrollment leaders in recruitment and retention best practices. In addition, Joe will be available to assist with select recruitment and/or retention diagnostics, leadership development and coaching engagements.

The Dan Saracino Chair

This position, established by RHB in April 2020, recognizes Dan Saracino’s leadership in advancing the industry of enrollment management. As well, RHB recognizes his achievements that serve as inspiration to generations of higher education enrollment professionals. The Saracino Chair presents an opportunity for seasoned, current enrollment management professionals who have achieved success and recognition for superior performance to offer counsel to the firm and its clients facing enrollment challenges. Typically held by an actively working professional, the Saracino Chair engages in a variety of consultative services expanding the expertise of the RHB team.

During his more than 50 years of working in higher education, Dan Saracino served as the chief enrollment officer at Santa Clara University and the University of Notre Dame, his alma mater. Dan has held leadership roles in professional organizations at the state, regional and national levels, including the College Board and a three-year term as the President of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. As such, Dan was instrumental in building the foundation for enrollment management as a profession. In recent years he has served on the National Merit, the Lilly Foundation, the Brunswick Corporation and the Coca-Cola Scholarship Committees. Dan also visits international schools and military base secondary schools on behalf of the U.S. State Department and the Department of Defense. In 2012, upon completion of his tenure at Notre Dame, Dan joined the RHB team as a senior consultant. Dan’s influence on the RHB team elevated an understanding of and appreciation for the dynamics of enrollment management leadership.
